Colors of India! - 28 March 09 @ Indian Association Ground, 69 Balestier Road

The Singapore Indian Association had organized this Carnival - a celebration of arts, culture, bollywood, cuisine, and entertainment on 28th Mar 09. Various ethnic Indian organizations that represent the art and culture of people from the different regions in India were invited. The celebrities in the entertainment programmes included Indian Idol contestant and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander winner Rahul Vaidya, Bollywood Singer Kavita, Live Band, DJ Anuraga Rupee Room celebrity & TV Comedian etc. Dr.Balaji Sadasivan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Singapore was the Guest of Honour.

Kannada Sangha (Singapore) participated in this event and proudly presented two cultural performances. While the Kannada ladies group rendered a beautiful inaugural folk song “Elu chinnada Giri…” – directed by Smt. Bhagya Murthy; the cute little children wrapped-up the local entertainment segment with an equally breath-taking fusion dance from a movie “Sajani”, choreographed by Smt. Savitha. Both the programmes were well appreciated by the organizers and the audience. There was a special mention of this in the media as well, in Strait Times and Vasantham TV. This was yet another golden opportunity for Sangha members to showcase their presence and talent, among other Indian Organizations. Kannada Sangha was represented at the function by the executive committee members Smt. Archana Prakash, Smt. Rashmi Udaykumar and Shri Suresha.
