As a part of Yugadi festival celebrations, Kannada Sangha had organised "Yugadi -2008", a family gathering of members on 26th April 2008 at DPS International School. The event included Singing, Fancy Dress, Karaoke competitions and entertainment programmes for Sangha members and their family members.
The singing competitions were held on 20th April 2008 at Function Hall, Braddell View Apartments. Many contestants of various age groups participated. Smt. Bhagya Murthy and Shri. Pavan Rangachar kindly served as judges for this contest. The audience witnessed the wealth of talent displayed by children and adults. The program was unique with no song being repeated. Top performers in each age category were given an opportunity to sing on 26th April 2008.
On the evening of 26th April 2008, Yugadi – 2008 started off with the Prarthana (Invocation) by Kumari Meghna Hebbar. The fancy dress competition was conducted for several age groups of children on pre-selected themes on Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Legends of Karnataka. It was heartening to see the efforts put in by both small children and their parents for this competition. The winners were determined by a combination of audience voting and evaluation by judges which was well received.
The entertainment programs consisting of a folk dance Gili Gili Gilak by Smt. Vinitha Aithal and a group dance by students of Smt. Ranjini Jayasimha gathered applause from audience. On this occasion, Sangha also felicitated one of the pioneer members, Smt. Ranjini Jayasimha. This was followed by an entertaining Karaoke competition which was introduced for the first time. Chief Guest of the evening, Shri. Guruprakash distributed the prizes to the winners of all the competitions conducted for Yugadi-2008. While Shri. Dr. Prakash Hande welcomed the members and their families to the evening activities; Shri. Ramadas, President of Kannada Sangha presented the vote of thanks. Smt. Bhargavi Anand compered for the whole programme. For the convenience of participants and audience, Sangha had made transport arrangements free of cost before and after the event. Sangha also distributed sweets to all members who attended Yugadi 2008 programme.

A three hour programme with more than 60 participants and more than 175 audiences, Yugadi-2008 was yet another successful program.
