Event Summary

Kannda Sangha (Singapore)'s 14th General Body Meeting was held on 26th June 2010 at The Grass Root Club Auditorium. Meeting was attended by full quorum with a record number of more than 100 members attending the meeting. After the welcome address by Kannada Sangha's president Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar  the meeting minutes of 13th General Body meeting was adopted by the AGM . Sangha's Secretary Mr. Srinivas and Treasurer Mr. Vijaya Ranga Prasad  presented  the activity report and financial report 2009-2010 respectively  which  was adopted in the meeting. Two constitutional changes were also discussed in the meeting which were adopted  unanimously by the floor after discussion and  with suggested modifications. Detailed minutes of the 14th General Body Meeting will be circulated to all the members in next few days.
 
On this  occasion ,a cultural programme - dance drama "Dashavatara" was also organized. Member of Parliament for Sembawag GRC and Adviser to Woodlands Grass root Organisation,  Ms. Ellen Lee, PBM was the Guest of Honour for the evening.  Cultural programme was presented by a  group of artists from  "Sri Nava Chetana Natya Kala Academy" & "Sri Jaya Natya Kala Academy" of Karnataka, India and was  well attended by more than 200 people in the audience .  This group was  lead by Vidhwan Sri Kolar Ramesh, who has a mission to to bring  dance closer to children in the rural areas .Sri Ramesh has spent more than 15 years in  training thousands of rural children of Karnataka in different dance forms and making  dance forms accessible  to interested children in   to rural areas of Karnataka . He is  currently  training 1300 young talents in many towns and villages of  Karnataka through his 18 Dance centers .
 
 
Kannada Sangha (Singapore) took this unique  opportunity  to support  this  young troupe  & encourage these rural talents of Karnataka. This  Cultural evening was kindly supported and sponsored  by Woodlands CC IAEC. Programme was followed by scrumptious Karnataka Style dinner.
