ಯುಗಾದಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಟಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ೧೯೮೮ ರಿಂದಲೂ ಸಿಂಗಪುರದ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಮನೆಮಾತು. ಯುಗಾದಿ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಚರಿಸಿದರೆ, ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಟಕಗಳು 'ಕಸ್ತೂರಿ ಕಂಪು' ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವರುಷಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ೭೦-೮೦ ರ ದಶಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ೨೦ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಿದ್ದರೆ ೯೦ ರ ದಶಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆದ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಗಣನೀಯ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣೀಭೂತವಾಯಿತು. ೧೧ ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ ೧೯೯೬ ರಂದು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ರಿಜಿಸ್ಟ್ರಾರ್ ಆಫ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೊಂದಾಯಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಇಂದಿನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘ ಉದಯವಾಯಿತು.

ಸಂಘದ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳು:

• ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ,ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ,ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ, ವಿನೋದ ಹಾಗೂ ಶುಭ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸುವಿಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವುದು
• ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ವಿವಿದೆಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರೊಡನೆ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸುವುದು

INTRODUCTION (nAvilli beLeda kathe)

Although the kannada speaking community of Singapore has been organising activities such as Yugadi and Kannada dramas since 1988, a formal association known as "Kannada Sangha(Singapore)" was registered on 11 September 1996 under the Societies act by the Registry of Societies, Singapore. The need for a formal Association was felt mainly by the phenomenal growth of the kannada community which grew from hardly 20 families in the late 80s to more than 600 families today.

The objectives of the Association are:

• to promote social, cultural, educational, recreational and welfare activities, and to hold celebrations in which kannada people are interested;
• to bridge cultural relationship between kannada people throughout the world;
